Narcissistic Abuse Counselling in BC— Rooted, Collaborative, Contextual Therapy That Actually Works
I’m Scarlet Jaxen, a Registered Social Worker and Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC) trained by Dr. Ramani Durvasula. I support people across British Columbia that are experiencing relational stress caused from narcissistic abuse. If you are constantly second-guessing yourself, riding the emotional unpredictability of being idealized in one moment and then completely invalidated in the next, monitoring every detail of how you speak, or even silencing your own needs to prevent escalation— you may be navigating narcissistic abuse. My therapeutic approach reduces confusion, restores self-trust, and provides practical tools for understanding the dynamics of narcissistic abuse and recovering from them.
Is this Narcissistic Abuse?
You don’t need to know if you are in a relationship with someone who is narcissistic to seek specialized support. Narcissistic abuse is complex and is difficult to detect when you are the one experiencing it. Instead of trying to figure out whether you’re in a relationship with a narcissistic person, take note of how the relationship is making you feel.
You may be navigating narcissistic abuse if you’re experiencing:
chronic self-doubt or confusion
unpredictable reactions
your feelings being invalidated, minimized, or flipped back onto you
walking on eggshells
feeling overpowered and disconnected from yourself
aggression and blame when you express your needs
Narcissistic Abuse requires specialized skills.
I am a Registered Social Worker with 15+ years of clinical experience and the only Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician in Victoria, BC.
How I Work
My therapeutic approach is rooted in an antagonism-informed framework and integrates Response-Based Practice, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic and Nervous System Support, Attachment Theory, Systems Theory, and Harm Reduction. Blending these methods reduces confusion, supports your capacity, and helps you reconnect with yourself.

Why doesn’t communication fix this?
Narcissistic patterns of behavior aren’t caused by your tone, timing, or your emotional expression. If you are experiencing narcissistic abuse, it won’t stop from you communicating more effectively. Instead of trying to adjust yourself to a dynamic that won’t respond, specialized therapy can help you make sense of your experience and develop strategies for increasing your safety, promoting your wellbeing, and reconnecting you with your essential self.

A story of resistance runs parallel to every story of powerlessness. No matter how small or unseen, people always resist domination. Unfortunately, the treatment of trauma often neglects or misses this story entirely. In this article you’ll discover some of the gifts that come from unfolding the natural ways people navigate traumatic events.
